Back in 1881, cotton gin builder and operator Daniel Haynes received a request from a neighbour and subsequently built a cotton-filled mattress in the small town of Sealy, Texas. The neighbour was so happy with the mattress that Daniel Haynes received more requests from other neighbours and family. Haynes invented a machine for making mattresses and the company grew after he received a patent for his invention in 1889. Sealy has been growing steadily for over 100 years now and in the UK, the Sealy bed brand has been operating for over 40 years.
