This client had dreams of a luxurious family bathroom and Gardiner Haskins Interiors made it happen! The family's children were growing up and they no longer enjoyed the big bathtub they had wasting space. Their designer helped them gain back their space with beautiful marble pannelling and lush matt black accessories to give it a sophisticated look.
Brief
The client wanted to remove the bath and previous glittery panelling to make way for a large, luxurious shower and more space!
Prior to the bathroom build, the windows were replaced a few months before. The bathroom was on the to-do list next and as part of this, the window had to be replaced with a smaller one to accommodate a shower enclosure. Previously, the large window encroached above the side of the bath.
Bathroom Before Images
What we learnt: book the builder well in advance! “Our builder did some other work and we wanted to make sure we were happy before deciding to carry on and asking him to install the new bathroom. We were more than happy, so went ahead to rebook him for the bathroom fitting only to find he was booked for another 6 months! “
6 months on and with plenty of time to think about the design, they had clear ideas of the colour scheme for the room. Monochrome with natural wood to soften the look with black accents including black tap and shower.
“We warmed to the idea of marbleised panelling after collating lots of ideas on Pinterest. Tiling wasn’t really an option as we were unsure what the walls were like before the last panelling and if they were suitable for tiling. With a delay on the start of the project, shower pannelling was a safe bet. ”

From Idea to Design
Once they knew what they wanted, the Jones Family visited the Gardiner Haskins Bathroom Showroom and spoke to an expert designer to get their ideas onto paper.
“With a clear idea of the colour scheme, it was great to find shower displays you could test out to find out the space available in them. Also, we liked the material finish samples for the cupboards and the panelling. Seeing our bathroom come to life on the screen was amazing and really helped us recreate the dream bathroom we had in our head.”
Slimline units underneath the window meant more space and a sleeker finish. They chose handle-less natural wood units from Roper Rhodes for under the sink and behind the toilet unit and then finished this off with a slim tallboy in the natural oak finish slotting nicely in the corner where the end of the bath used to be. A bold, matt black tap, shower unit and towel radiator brought the whole room to life, giving it that extra zing. Mrs Jones says that “Seeing the bathroom design through the 4D Virtual Reality bathroom visualiser made it seem all the more real.”
Cool, Calm Monochrome Bathroom
A black toilet roll holder, monochrome hand towel and other subtle accessories accentuate the marble panelled backdrop. Carefully positioned plants create a sense of cool calmness, in addition to breaking up the monochrome with a bit of nature.
Mrs Jones says: “Luckily, the original flooring tiles were still fine and we had 2 spare boxes left over so a few extra tiles were added to cover the floor where the end of the bath had been.” White, wood effect waterproof blinds complete the look by framing the window without taking away the visual impact of the panelling, furniture and sanitaryware.
“Overall, we absolutely love our new bathroom and still can’t believe the space achieved by removing the old bath, replacing with a spacious shower enclosure and installing slimline units. Best part is the large shower head pouring like rain above you.”
