Whether you’re a serious cook, love to bake, regularly entertain friends and family or have just splurged on the show-kitchen you always dreamed of, there are times when an ordinary oven or cooker just won’t do. So, if you want extra cooking capacity, superb performance, and a real statement centrepiece for the hub of your home, you need a range cooker.
Andy Stockwell, Senior Retail Manager explains the appeal..
Range cookers are becoming increasingly popular. They offer great versatility and flexibility with their dual oven layout, separate grills and warming or storage drawers. Hobs are available in gas, electric or induction and they come in a range of sizes. It is easy to see why a range cooker is the centrepiece of any kitchen.
Main ovens are multifunction so you can tailor your oven to the type of food you are cooking, whether you are doing a Sunday roast for a family of six, making a pizza for two or baking cakes for the local fete. Zonal cooking allows different types of food to be cooked within the same oven at the same time and some even come with steam oven options, brilliant for cooking rice and fish dishes.
With some models having roll out grills, wok burners and proving drawers, and with a wide range of colour options available compared to the invariable black, white and silver of most conventional cookers, there are lots of reasons why range cookers are the sensible, practical choice.’
So, if you think a range cooker is the right choice for you, what is the next step?
There are lots on the market and lots to view online, but while they don’t have to break the budget it’s definitely worthwhile going to see the products on show and talk through the options. As with anything, an image and description can only show you so much. There is no substitute for seeing the products in the flesh and talking through the options and requirements with an expert.
Gardiner Haskins have recently expanded their display of range cookers within their Cirencester electrical appliance showroom with the addition of three new brands.
Gardiner Haskins has been a Rangemaster Design Centre for many years. That means we have 10 different Rangemaster models on show in a choice of styles, colours and fuel types. We have also carried displays of range cookers from Belling and Stoves for several years, so the choice was already good.
This year we have added three new premium brands to our portfolio. Falcon and Mercury are part of the Aga-Rangemaster family. While Rangemaster is the market leader in the UK for range cookers, the Falcon and Mercury brands are a step ahead in terms of build quality and aesthetics.
The other new brand is Bertazzoni, a stunning collection of cooking appliances from an Italian manufacturer with a heritage stretching back 140 years.
Bertazzoni have been around for a long time but have only recently started targeting the UK market. Their whole portfolio is absolutely stunning in both build quality and style. Their Professional range has the option to be finished in a range of colours of automotive paint, to match the traditional colours of Italian sports car brands such as Ferrari and Lamborghini. The 1200 Professional we have in Lamborghini Yellow is stunning. Aside from the paintwork, which really catches the eye, the brass burners with Bertazzoni logo moulded into the large burner, heavyweight racks, side by side ovens and built in temperature probe really make the brand stand out from the crowd, it is truly a work of art.
In total there are over 20 range cookers now on display at Gardiner Haskins Cirencester.
‘We have been a Rangemaster design Centre for many years, but we wanted to become much more, a real destination for anyone interested in buying a range cooker. We believe we have the best collection of range cookers on display in the region with six high-quality brands covering all price points. Our Bertazzoni stand is one of a kind, especially designed for the store, and is one of the most comprehensive displays of Bertazzoni range cookers and built in ovens and hobs in the country.
It is not just a great showroom. Our staff have over 40 years of experience with range cookers and can give the best advice available. I am proud to say we have created a fantastic destination centre for range cookers.’
The range cooker showroom can be found at Gardiner Haskins, 68-72 Dyer Street, Cirencester, GL7 2PF, with free parking for customers whilst in-store at the rear of the store in Lewis Lane.
