In this blog series we invite you to virtually meet our designers, find out more about them & their experiences designing over the years and what you can expect if you visit them for your next bathroom renovation.
Today we'd like to introduce you to David, one of our bathroom designers based in our Bristol Showroom. David has worked with us at Gardiner Haskins Interiors for 5 years.
Hi David! How did you get into Bathroom Design?
"I attended university at UWE, Bristol and completed a construction and planning degree. At the time, I was working part time for a local DIY chain and covering afternoon and evening shifts. This eventually progressed to full time. I enjoyed helping people and designing bathrooms is a great chance to get to help customers make the best choices with their bathroom designs using the knowledge from my degree to help them.
What else do you enjoy about design work?
"Every customer we see in the showrooms is unique and after something a little bit different - no two bathroom designs are ever the same. In Bristol there is a wide variety of housing with homes from different time periods from the 1800's to modern new builds. This is always an interesting aspect to the design and ensuring realistic planning. We aim to consider function, form and aesthetics."
Any insider tips for people considering a new bathroom renovation project?
"Consider how long you want to be in the property for and use this to determine your budget and style. Will you be moving soon or is this your forever home? Will the bathroom work for your needs and your family needs long term? If you're only staying for a short period does the style you are considering attract future buyers?"
What's your favourite bathroom trend for 2023?
"I am enjoying the return of nature into the bathroom particularly the use of wood materials and plants to enhance the space."
Can you show us some of your previous work?
Here's a bathroom renovation we completed in 2022 for Rod. Rod came to me with a clear idea of what he wanted colourwise and featurewise so we just had to make this work in a plan for him. I remember he specifically wanted a tall cabinet which he thought would be hard to fit in, but we managed to adjust some of the units used and get one in with no problem.
Finally, why do you think your clients choose Gardiner Haskins Interiors?
"I believe my clients visit us for two reasons. They have either used Gardiner Haskins Interiors' for a previous project and have enjoyed the experience enough to come back to us again or someone they know has recommended us following their good experience. We have a loyal group of customers and fitters who always recommend us and we truly appreciate every recommendation.
