Starting with Gardiner Haskins just last year in June 2018 Sandra is one of the newer employees to the Gardiner Haskins Team. When Sandra talks about her work it doesn’t feel that way, “I feel like I’ve always been here. The team I work with are so friendly and helpful it’s just a great team to be a part of and I’ve fitted in so well.”
She didn’t always feel this would be the case though, “As with starting a new job anywhere I was scared to death when I first came in to this job, but I soon settled in. Alec & Graeme in particular supported me and still always help me when I need it.” She soon settled in to her role, working partly on the till and partly on the shop floor. “I love talking to people so being on the till and being able to chat to our customers is the best part for me. It’s good to work for a company that actively encourages you to get to know your customers, whereas many bigger companies focus too much on timing and not on the people.”
The stand out day for Sandra though was the 40th Anniversary Family Fun Day. Sandra says, “Who knew raising £1300 for charity could be so much fun? I ran the raffle table on the day but had the opportunity to explore the store throughout the day and it was brilliant to see so many happy customers. I even managed to get a balloon hat from Mr Wiz!” Sandra’s always looking forward to the next big event but is particularly fond of Christmas especially enjoying the annual Christmas Jumper day (which generally at Gardiner Haskins evolves into Christmas Jumper month…). “I like to get a new jumper every year, it makes it even more exciting”.
Richard Newman who hired Sandra says, “Sandra is always happy and smiling and takes the time to talk to everybody which is really important to our customers. Customer service is really important to her which means she fits in well with our team.”
