Today, we have announced the closure of our Cirencester store. Changing shopping habits and structural cost increases significantly above inflation have combined to make the store unviable. Unfortunately, this is a very familiar story and one that is playing out across High Streets all over the country.

Our focus now is on delivering an orderly closure looking after our loyal customers and properly supporting our affected staff.

Statement from the Managing Director, Ben Allen.

This is sad news for our staff and the community this store has served for over 45 years. I would like to thank our customers for their loyal support. We have been proud to serve the people of Cirencester and to be actively engaged with the community supporting local charities and sponsoring Cirencester Town Football Club. We will work with these community partners to make sure the impact of our closure is minimised.

We are also fully committed to minimise the impact of the store closure on our loyal staff who have worked incredibly hard to maintain our business throughout a uniquely challenging period. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all. They are an outstanding team. We will support affected staff with enhanced redundancy packages and outplacement support to help them find new employment opportunities.

An orderly closure will take place during which all customer orders will be properly fulfilled. When the store closes after-sales support will transfer to our Bristol store.

There will be no impact on our other business operations based in Bristol which continues to trade as normal and remains profitable.

FAQ’s

Q: Has the store closed immediately?

A: The store has not closed yet, you will still find us open Monday – Saturday, 9am – 6pm currently.

Q: When will the store close?

A: Unfortunately, we cannot give a solid answer on closure dates. All stock currently in-store needs to be sold through and our current customer orders fulfilled. As soon as a date is determined we will communicate this through our social media channels.

Q: Are you holding a clearance sale?

A: Our in-store clearance has started in selected departments. These discounts may change as time moves on but we will not be able to guarantee what is included in future discounts or stock availability moving forward - once the stock is gone, it's gone!

Q: What will happen to your staff?

A: As this is a store closure a majority of our staff will unfortunately be made redundant. We are fully committed to supporting our staff through this tough time and are offering unlimited outplacement support for CV's and job searching as well as offering an enhanced redundancy package funded by our clearance sale.

Q: Does the closure affect your Bristol Showrooms?

A: Our Gardiner Haskins Interiors operation in Bristol is a successful Kitchen, Bathroom, Bedroom and Furniture business. It is not a legacy High Street homecentre retail operation like our Cirencester store and operates on a totally different business model. Gardiner Haskins Interiors is experiencing strong growth and remains profitable and is therefore unaffected by the Cirencester store closure.

Q: Will there be an after sales service for the Lumination Lighting?

A: Lumination customers can rest assured customer support will be ongoing and provided by our Taunton Branch on 01823 334432 once Lumination Cirencester is closed. Their website is also available at https://www.lumination.co.uk/

Q: What is the returns policy?

A: From Monday 3rd March we have changed our refund policy to reflect our slashed prices and store closure announcement. We will no longer accept returns or exchanges for items unless they show a demonstrable fault. This does not affect your statutory rights.
